The Fire
The fire inside
Sometimes strong
Sometimes weak
Keeps me warm
When life is bleak
Come wind or rain
The fire did reign
Source of light
Place of strength
I have myself to thank
One day came winter
So hatefully cold
Took my fire
For its own
Engulfed my flame
In its icy jaws
What was mine
Then became yours
The fire is gone
Damp and wet
Only ashes
Now are left
For so long
It has remained so
But now an ember
Begins to glow
Yours Truly

Cool! I like the imagery, rhyme and theme – the idea of having great passion and losing it but hopeful at regaining it.
Thank you Unga! I really appreciate that. This poem is one part of three related poems, all centered around the concept of the Fire which drives man. I’ll be posting the other parts in time too
That’s nice!
I like this, how the fire comes back, even though it got quenched.
I love this! Especially the ‘But now an ember beings to glow”
you are talented keep it up!
I feel I am becoming more hopefully and positive in some areas, I am glad that this is coming across in my work. My poetry is so sub-conciously written, that sometimes I dont notice what the piece is expressing. Thank You All!

Mmm very nice! I love how the fire flickers back at the end. Reminds me of how you can never fully stamp out nature; even if everything were wiped out (Chernobyl, for example), things have a way of soldiering on!
Fire is such an inspiring force…I wrote a song called “The Fire” once too! Anyway, rad work
thank you! its true, the fire within can never be estinguished, never fully. the fire is human spirit. and it springs eternal!
